Marshall County, Alabama Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain, Marshall County, named in honor of the great southern patriot and supreme court justice John Marshall, is located in Northeastern Alabama. In these hills lie a tradition rich in beauty and tranquility, of hospitality and southern delight. Rich emerald colored trees border the lush land throughout, turning ruby and topaz during the fall. Hide away from phones and faxes while riding through the majestic sites of the Appalachian foothills. Here you can catch a glimpse of the Bald Eagle, discover the wonders of Cathedral Caverns or take home designer clothes at the Boaz Outlet Malls, or battle an award winning bass out of Lake Guntersville, considered by the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society to be one of America's finest sport fishing lakes. Albertville, where the Sand Mountain Southern Cruisers is based, is the largest city in Marshall County, and the largest city on Sand Mountain - a rich plateau approximately 25 miles wide and 75 miles long - extending from about 40 miles Northeast of Birmingham and Creek Indian country, Marshall County and the Sand Mountain area are rich in Indian lore and history. Marshall County has five major cities: Albertville, Arab, Boaz, Grant and Guntersville. Each city has its own patchwork of attractions, historical sites and festivals.
